Kirk Saunders
Mr. Saunders has been actively involved with Philip Amos since 1986 as a Member of Saunders & Amos L.L.C. in the acquisition, management, and development of real estate projects, including manufactured housing land-lease rental communities, apartments, subdivisions, and single-family residences. Since March, 1997, Mr. Saunders and Mr. Amos have acquired manufactured housing land-lease rental communities in Arizona, Texas and California containing more than 2,000 homesites. The property management division of Saunders & Amos LLC has 20 employees and manages all of the properties owned by entities affiliated with Mr. Amos and Mr. Saunders. Mr. Saunders and Mr. Amos founded 1st Deed Funding, a private equity lender which, along with its affiliates, has raised and loaned or invested over $60 million in Arizona real estate projects. From 1984 to 1987, Mr. Saunders practiced law at the law firm of Nagashima & Ohno in Tokyo, Japan (www.noandt.com) and Manatt, Phelps, Rothenberg, Tunney & Phillips in Los Angeles, California (www.manatt.com) where he specialized in securities, banking, real estate and international business transactions. Mr. Saunders has been a member and held various executive positions on the Board of Manufactured Housing Communities of Arizona (MHCA) since 1987 and is a past president of the Tucson Chapter of MHCA. Mr. Saunders received his B.A. from Pomona College, Claremont, California, attended Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, and received his J.D. from the University of Arizona College of Law, Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Saunders has been a member of the California Bar Association since 1984. Mr. Saunders is 56 years old.
Philip Amos
Mr. Amos has been active in the real estate business since 1982 when he joined Tucson Realty & Trust Co. (“TRT”), a real estate brokerage firm founded by his grandfather, as a residential agent. Mr. Amos worked as a TRT commercial real estate agent from 1983 to 1984. In 1984, he formed a new TRT division specializing in the syndication of commercial properties. Mr. Amos has been actively involved with Mr. Saunders since 1986 as a Member of Saunders & Amos L.L.C. in the acquisition, management, and development of real estate projects, including manufactured housing land-lease rental communities, apartments, subdivisions, and single-family residences. Charitable Affiliations and Activities
Mr. Saunders and Mr. Amos believe strongly in giving back to the community and each is actively involved with not-for-profit organizations.
Kirk Saunders
Mr. Saunders is past President and has been a member of the Board of El Rio Health Center in Tucson for over 17 years. El Rio is a federally qualified community health center, which provides primary health care services to the poor and uninsured in Pima County, Arizona. El Rio serves over 80,000 patients and expects to provide over $20 million in charity health care to the Tucson community in 2013. Mr. Saunders is a founder, past President and member of the Board of the El Rio Foundation whose mission is to raise operating funds and an endowment to fund El Rio Health Center programs which have no other source of funding, including health and wellness education, diabetes and asthma prevention and treatment, and oral health. Mr. Saunders is a past member of the Board of the Council on Aging Foundation, a financial support organization for the Pima Council on Aging, a government and privately funded organization which provides a variety of services to needy, older citizens of Pima County, including meals on wheels, job training and placement, advocacy, etc. Mr. Saunders works with and supports several other Pima County based charitable organizations, including Casa Maria (care and advocacy for the homeless) and the Children’s Success Academy (education for disadvantaged children).
Philip Amos
Mr. Amos is a past President of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA). Mr. Amos’ father, Buddy Amos, founded CFSA in 1980. CFSA’s mission is to work with charitably minded individuals and organizations to strengthen southern Arizona communities, now and for generations to come. CFSA’s endowment grew steadily under Mr. Amos’ leadership and now surpasses $100 million. Since its inception, CFSA has granted more than $66 million and ranks in the top 15 percent of foundations nationwide. Mr. Amos has also served for the last ten years as a member of the Centurions of St. Mary’s of Carondelet, an associate support group of Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital comprised of 100 community business and civic leaders. The Centurions exist solely for the purpose of raising funds to benefit the St. Mary’s Emergency Department and other selected hospital projects and have, since 1992, raised and contributed in excess of $3,700,000 to the Hospital and its projects.
